Middle Ground is an exhibition of linocut prints and paintings that celebrate the landscape we live in. The starting point is my home in King Valley, where a farm cottage sits in a layered landscape with iconic shaped trees and buildings, including the distinctive tobacco kilns silhouetted in the distance, and far-off mountains in the background.
From Mildura to Western Victoria and home again the landscape inspires and informs my work. My distinct visual language evokes a sense of nostalgia and longing, captivating the viewer with whimsical imagery. A process of distilling down to an essence of the natural and man-made environments. Sometimes the painting will inform my linocuts and other times the linocuts will inspire a painting.
