The Streets of Your Town
I am heading to Mildura in April to host linocut workshops for the community with Mildura City and Cultivator Inc
Streets of Your Town looks at the unique streets and laneways, buildings, and landscapes, that represent Mildura. Whether it’s the iconic and picturesque Riverfront, the busy hustle and bustle of Deakin Avenue, the water tower, or even the street you call home, come, and celebrate the beautiful region we all call home.
After the linocuts have been carved, inked, and printed, the aim is to bring together everyone’s idea of what ‘The Streets of Your Town’ means to them creating a larger work that represents all the ideas, people, places, and feelings of what makes Mildura home.
Location: Cultivator Studio, 76 Langtree Mall (btwn Jeanswest and Bras’n’Things)
Dates: April Friday 29th, Saturday 30th Sunday 1stMay

Mullinmur Billabong Linocut Project
Wangaratta Visitor Information Centre
Open daily 9.30pm-4.30pm Murphy St Wangaratta
From April 29th to May 2nd 2021 the Goulburn and North
East Arts Alliance Inc. (GANEAA) ran their biennial Across
the Arts Forum. As a part of this forum, local artist Anita
Laurence began the Mullinmur Billabong Linocut Project.
The Mullinmur Linocut Project was supported by Regional
Arts Victoria and jointly funded by the Victorian
Government and Commonwealth Government under the
Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding
Arrangements.
The exhibition brings together the work of 13 individuals,
all inspired by the Mullinmur Billabong, all pursuing the
vision of a collaborative ‘Billabong’. Each artist has
contributed multiple works to the collaboration, the first of
these linocut prints were created at the Billabong. Made
with the intention of being able to print each block
individually and also as part of a collective horizon, further
blocks were carved at home and brought together at a
second workshop held at Bill Young Studio.
The Billabong, comprising of approximately 20 hectares
of floodplain riparian woodland on the Ovens River and
located 2.5 kilometres north of the Wangaratta City
Centre, is owned by the Catholic Church and managed by
volunteers from Wangaratta Landcare and Sustainability
Inc and other partner organisations. Although there are
not any significant indigenous cultural sites on the
property, Bpangerang use of the area would have been
extensive. The Bpangerang were, and always will be the
original custodians of the land.
A local creative conduit, the Mullinmur (meaning platypus
in Bpangerang language) Billabong is an incredibly
inspiring space; the filtering light through the redgum
forest, the wind-blown patterns on the Billabong surface,
smaller micro scenes of leaf shapes, bark and trunk
configuration, prolific native birds, fleeting glimpses of
snakes, swamp wallabies, barking owls, possums and
sugar gliders, all generate ideas for artistic expression.

Where We Live
24 Sept – 22 Oct 2019
Art at St Francis
326 Lonsdale St Melbourne
9am-5pm Mon-Fri 9am-3pm
I am thrilled to be a to be exhibiting in Melbourne. ‘Where We Live’ is an exhibition of a selection of linocut prints and etchings that celebrates the landscape I live in with a focus on architecture. The starting point begins from my home in King Valley where the central building of a farm cottage sits in a layered landscape with iconic shaped trees and buildings including the distinctive tobacco kilns silhouetted in the distance and far-off mountains in the background.
The exhibition is at ART AT ST FRANCIS 326 Lonsdale St Melbourne from Tuesday 24th September till Monday 21st October
The gallery space is open Monday to Friday 9am -5pm and Sunday 9am -3pm
From country to city I find ‘where we live’ to be an inspiring subject matter where I can explore shape, texture, space and contrast in linocuts or the line, texture and pattern in an etching.
Printed in our King Valley Studio by my husband, Master Printmaker Bill Young, who has also handcrafted the frames from upcycled Kauri Pine floorboards.

Middle Ground
5 April – 6 May at Off Centre Gallery + Studio
VIC ( Milawa Cheese Factory Complex)
This summer I have been inspired by the intense colours of the pink, mauve and purple crepe myrtles that line the streets and grace the front yards of homes in Wangaratta. The dry summer makes me notice that the colours and the patterns of harvest still abound in the landscape against the intense green of the ripening grape vines. I have been painting on canvas this summer, exploring all these elements in my local landscape and other places that are near and dear to me. You will be able to see this new work in an exhibition titled Middle Ground.
To be opened on Saturday 6 April 3pm by Simone Nolan, Gallery Director Wangaratta Art Gallery
